Police officers are armed with batons and spray as they shout for people to ‘get back’, as one officer lands on the floor.

A woman was taken to hospital with injuries, police confirmed.

A young child within proximity of the disorder was caught by Captor spray – the trade name for synthetic spray PAVA, which can cause severe pain to the eyes – but did not sustain any serious injuries.

Three police officers were assaulted and injured in the fight, while two more sustained injuries.

Police arrested three men, two aged 25 and one aged 27, and two women aged 23 and 31.

One of the 25-year-old men was arrested on suspicion of assault, affray and threats to damage property.

The rest were arrested on suspicion of offences in relation to the incident, including affray, threats to kill and to damage property and assaulting emergency workers.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Wrexham has received much notoriety in recent years for the football club’s takeover by celebrities Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2021 after it went into administration.

The quest has been turned into an FX TV series and the side earned a historic promotion back into the English Football League in April.

The club hadn’t been in the league in over 15 years.
