- The messy birds managed to enter the two-bed flat and stayed for four weeks
- Pest control experts said it resembled ‘bird poo island’ Roca Partida in Mexico
This is the horrendous £15,000 worth of damage wreaked by pigeons on an East London flat after tenants accidentally left a patio door ajar.
The messy birds managed to flutter their way into the two-bed house and proceeded to take over every room in the house.
Over the course of the next four weeks, the birds splattered every room with poop, with the worst hit being the living room and kitchen.
The kitchen was covered in mess, with drying rack stacked with clothes splattered, and the toaster, kettle, worktop and floor.
The living room was a ‘sight to behold’ according to pest control bosses, with the sofas, carpet and TV all victims to the pesky birds.

The birds caused the damage within four weeks, leaving the property completely uninhabitable
Pest control experts said the flat resembled the island of Roca Partida in Mexico – which is also known as ‘bird poo island’.
The tiny uninhabited island is almost completely white due to the sheer amount of ‘bird guano’ from nesting brown booby, sooty tern and brown noddy birds.
The landlord – who didn’t want to be named – called experts at the London Network for Pest Solutions after his eyes ‘popped out of his head’ when he saw the extent of the mess.
The clean-up operation means the landlord – who admitted that he should have checked the property after it was vacated – will be a whopping £15,000 out of pocket.
Paul Cooper, the MD of London Network for Pest Solutions, said: ‘The landlord took one peek inside and called us immediately.
‘The pigeons had redecorated throughout leaving the home in a complete mess.
‘It took the pigeons just four weeks to wreck the place.’
He said the firm’s pigeon expert had to put on a protective suit and two masks to mask the ‘overwhelming stench’, adding: ‘Our pigeon surveyor was sent in suited and booted.
‘He said the stench was overwhelming and he had to double mask using both a dustmask and a PureFlo mask [and air purifying respirator].
Asked about the cost, he said it would cost around £15,000: ‘The property will be out of action for the best part of a month, whilst it is cleared, cleaned, redecorated and refurnished.’
