PSG 0-1 Arsenal

Gabriel is at it again!

Desire Doue morphs into Michael Jackson and starts dancing around players in the box.

But he then meets the Brazilian brick wall and he can’t get a shot away.

Meanwhile, Nuno Mendes is down and has been for some time, but PSG just kept playing. Fair dos.

Oh wait, he’s fine now… of course.

‘PSG have nothing to show for possession’

Lots and lots of possession for PSG – 73 per cent after half an hour – and absolutely nothing to show for it. Arsenal are settling deep in their shape pretty comfortably when their opponents have the ball.
Meanwhile, that break from deep by the Premier League champions was electric and led by Myles Lewis-Skelly.

‘Arsenal looking for counter’

Arsenal are soaking up the pressure and looking for counter-attacks. So far, it’s working. PSG will inevitably tire at some stage.

PSG 0-1 Arsenal

Luis Enrique can breathe a sigh of relief.

Matvei Safonov took a little bang on the head, then, when bravely getting to the cross, but he is back on his feet.

All it took was an ice pack to the back of the head and he is dandy. Man bun tied back up and ready to go again.

Man, he tied that up so quickly.

OHHHH…

That is huge from Matvei Safonov; those rugby tackling pads have obviously worked wonders in training.

The PSG keeper launches himself into bodies just to get a hand to Bukayo Saka’s teasing low cross.

But he has hurt himself in the process…

PSG 0-1 Arsenal

A cheeky little drinks break.

Might seem mad but my golly it’s hot in here, even if it’s not as bad as it was yesterday.

It’s also a chance for Luis Enrique to lay into his players, which I have no doubts he is doing.

16:26, 24‘

PSG 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal basically have two right-backs tonight.

Bukayo Saka is sitting so deep and is helping double up on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with Cristhian Mosquera.

It means the Georgian is basically being rendered useless at the moment.

Plan is wokring to a tee.

16:24, 22‘

PSG 0-1 Arsenal

PSG might be having all the ball, but I have to say, they are doing diddly squat with it.

The attackers have barely had a sniff in these opening 22 minutes, the Gunners ‘ defence is dealing with them with ease.

Gabriel and William Saliba have to stay concentrated, though, otherwise PSG will make them pay.

So far, so good.

16:21, 19‘

PSG 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal just can’t get out.

PSG are all over them like a rash and have had 80 per cent of the ball so far. Yep, you are reading that right.

But possession doesn’t win Champions League finals, and Arsenal don’t look at all bothered by not having the ball.

All they care about is that scoreline… and it’s 1-0 to the Gunners.

‘It looked like it hit the side-netting’

From my seat, it looked at first as if Havertz had hit his shot into the side-netting. Replays showed what a pure strike it was.

16:19, 16‘

PSG 0-1 Arsenal

It’s all PSG now.

They have had Arsenal pinned back in their own half since the opener, and are trying to ramp up the pressure.

I find it hard to believe Arsenal will be able to cling on until full-time with just this one-goal lead.

They still look threatening on the counter, mind.

16:16, 13‘

PSG 0-1 Arsenal

Shot or cross?

I’m honestly not sure… Fabian Ruiz gets in behind after a lovely through pass, but then seems to panic.

He arrows the ball across the box, but there is nobody there. It almost looks as though he gets stuck in two minds.

Sums up PSG’s opening 13 minutes.
