  • An American woman who boasts about selling XL Bully dogs online to British people has challenged the view that that dogs are vicious animals

A Mississippi woman could face a bleak financial future due to the fact that she funds her luxury lifestyle through selling XL Bully dogs to British citizens for nearly $6,000 a pop.

Renee Castleman told The Sun in an interview that that hundreds of her dogs’ puppies wound up living in the United Kingdom. The mother-of-three told the newspaper that she rents out her dogs to stud locally for $10,000 a go.

Castleman, 32, sells her dogs through her website while advertising them on social media.

Since 2021, American XL Bully dogs are thought to have been responsible for as many nine deaths in the UK. One of those deaths was the killing of 10-year-old Jack Lis. He was injured so badly that authorities could only confirm his identity through his shoe.

In her interview with The Sun, Castleman called the dogs ‘gentle giants.’ Despite her opinion, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has called the animals ‘dangerous’ and promises to ban them by the end of 2023.

‘All of my dogs are very kind and we breed for temperament. I have a two, six and 11-year-old who help us with all our dogs. Even the neighbors’ kids help. It’s all about how they are bred and raised,’ she said.

Castleman has also cropped her dogs’ ears, something that is illegal in the United Kingdom but legal in the US.

The Sun quotes Castleman as previously discussing taking her dogs to the vets in order to have the procedure.

The breeder said that she believed it was a better look for show dogs.

In addition to the pictures showing her canines, Castleman regularly posts photos with her children or on exotic looking vacations with her husband, Patrick.

He told The Sun this week: ‘There are so many misconceptions about the Pit Bully and American Bully breed because of their size and reputation. They can be intimidating to look at but they are big gentle giants.’

In a previous interview, the pair spoke about how they let their kids snuggle up to the dogs without a worry.

Castleman’s two biggest dogs cost the most to stud. They are Buster, who weighs around 100 pounds, and Chop, who weighs around 126 pounds.

The prevalent hashtag ‘gatorhead’ on Instagram shows how far and wide Castleman has sold her pups.

Earlier this month, Ian Price, from the town of Stonnall in Staffordshire in England, was attacked and killed by two XL Bully dogs which jumped out of a neighbor’s window yards from a primary school. He reportedly died defending his elderly mother from the animals.

The dogs bit him and ripped the clothes from his body leaving him dying in a pool of blood in his boxer shorts in yesterday afternoon’s horror attack just feet from his home.

Witnesses said the dogs entered Mr Price’s mother’s garden through a hedge before ‘setting’ on him in an attack said to have lasted up to 20 minutes.

Mr Price’s heartbroken next door neighbour Matt told of his ‘anger’ over the brutal attack and the loss of ‘such a lovely guy’ and a fellow Aston Villa football fan.

Matt, 43, who declined to be fully identified. told MailOnline today: ‘This was an accident waiting to happen but it could have been avoided.

‘The dogs should never have been allowed to run free to roam the streets and terrorise the neighbourhood.

‘The same dogs attacked a middle-aged woman out walking her little dog six weeks to eight or so ago. They should have been taken away from the owner or put down.

‘They are killer dogs, ferocious, with huge powerful jaws, and it is such a shame and makes me so angry that it takes someone to be mauled and pass away for action to be taken.’

Matt, a parts supervisor for Merseyside-based Stellantis car plant, told how he had confronted the dog’s owner who lives opposite his home after the previous attack on the woman.

In June, 37-year-old Jonathan Hogg entered a XL Bully pen when it went for him, leaving bite wounds on his arm, leg and head, an inquest heard.

He was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries after the mauling in Leigh, Greater Manchester, last month.
