  • The pair were charged with dangerous driving and disqualified for 12 months

This is the terrifying moment two speeding drivers locked in a dangerous ‘road rage battle’ narrowly avoided oncoming cars along country lanes.

Kevin Rowley, 59, and Michael Drage, 50, were recorded by another motorist’s dash-cam wildly driving along rural roads in a village in Northamptonshire on May 21.

Shocking video shared by police shows the pair overtaking each other in their KIA Sportage and Mercedes cars and trying to cut each other up.

They can also be seen brake checking and driving at excessive speeds along Brampton Lane in Chapel Brampton, Northamptonshire.

At times, both cars are forced to swerve back on to the correct side of the road to narrowly avoid oncoming vehicles.

The angry drivers can also be seen speeding up as the other tries to overtake forcing them both to take evasive action.

Northamptonshire Police said they received the footage as part of an ongoing clampdown called Operation Snap.

The force reviewed the video and said they believed Rowley and Drage had deliberately endangered both themselves and other road users.

Both drivers, who live in Northampton, were interviewed by police and charged with dangerous driving.

The pair appeared before Northampton Magistrates’ Court on September 4, where they pleaded guilty to the offence.

Rowley and Drage were both disqualified from driving for 12 months and will have to take an extended driving test to regain their licences.

They must also complete 150 hours of unpaid community work, pay £85 costs and £114 victim surcharge.

PC Mo Allsopp-Clarke of Northamptonshire Police’s Safer Roads Team said: ‘The actions of Kevin Rowley and Michael Drage were not only reckless and dangerous, but purely selfish.

‘It is clear from the footage that the manner of their driving put innocent road users at risk.

‘Together with our Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance partners, reducing the number of people who are killed or seriously injured on our roads remains our focus, and we are pleased two more dangerous drivers have been taken off our roads.

‘We take instances of poor driving very seriously and through Operation Snap, 16 drivers have been successfully prosecuted for dangerous driving since its launch four years ago and we would encourage people to install dash-cams to help us make our roads safer for everyone.’
