  • EXCLUSIVE: Sydney Sweeney, 26, smiled and took photos with employees at pub
  • The actress popped for a family meal on Thursday and Friday nights, staff say
  • She visited a day after she wowed in starring role for Rolling Stones music video

Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney swapped Hollywood glamour for a Wetherspoons curry club after starring in a music video for the Rolling Stones‘ new single.

The actress, 26, put on a conservative display in a black strappy dress as she smiled with one of the pub’s employees in a snap shared with fellow ‘Spoonies.

Staff were left delighted after seeing the starlet popping into the The Corn Exchange in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, on the Thursday and Friday, according to employees.

It came just a day after she was in London for the release of the Rolling Stones’ latest single Angry – which saw Sydney putting on a sizzling display as she slipped into a leather crop top and matching skimpy shorts on top of a red Mercedes cabriolet.

She can be seen posing up next to a staff member by one of the Wetherspoons’ windows – with a Paddy Power sign lit up in the background.

Staff said she was meeting a friend at the nearby US Airforce base just months after she starred as a former USAAF worker and NSA whistleblower in HBO drama Reality and she was romantically linked to Top Gun: Maverick star Glen Powell.

The worker who posted the picture with Sydney joked: ‘Not Sydney Sweeney popping in for curry club.’

She added: ‘Fully we didn’t know what to do with ourselves.

‘Never cleared an I order screen so fast to get a picture!

‘It’s just so confusing what they’re doing in a small town in the middle of England like what??

‘I’ve served Bex from Eastenders and now her – they don’t compare but still exciting.’

Speaking to MailOnline, Wetherspoons associate Jade Pinner, 19, said: ‘A few of my colleagues were interested in it. Me, myself, I didn’t really know who she was.

‘They were excited – two or three of my colleagues took a photo. She was just having family dinner.

‘It was really exciting for some of us but I didn’t really know who she was.

‘But she was lovely about it – we left her until she finished her dinner and then we went over and asked her if she wanted her desert. I don’t know what she was eating.

‘And then she got her desert but before she got them we just took photos.’

Another pub worker added: ‘I guess it’s just normal to be honest. I think it was on Thursday and Friday as well.

‘Not really [much excitement] – I mean it’s just a normal person.’

A spokesman for the pub chain said: ‘It’s fantastic that such a big Hollywood star chose to enjoy a few drinks and a meal at the Corn Exchange in Bury St Edmunds.

‘By all accounts she was very generous with her time to both customers and staff and it’s very heartwarming that she took the time and the trouble just to chat and have photos with people at the pub.’

Sydney looked incredible as she donned a figure-hugging black dress with an a-symmetric hemline for the album launch on Wednesday.

The day after she stunned in a more natural look – travelling more than 70 miles to visit the establishment.

Wetherspoons host curry clubs every Wednesday across the country – including Chicken jalfrezi, Beef Madras, Chicken tikka masala and Mangalorean roasted cauliflower & spinach curry.

Posting on social media, Wetherspoons workers delighted in the surprise appearance – with one laughing: ‘Literally last person I’d expect in a Spoons!’

One jealous worker said: ‘I would of loved to meet her as well!’

One employee said she thought Sydney’s visit may be related to the American air base near the historic market town – where a friend of hers is said to work.

The two-time Emmy nominee – who is engaged to businessman Jonathan Davino – was romantically linked to 34-year-old Top Gun: Maverick star Glen Powell as they filmed romantic comedy Anyone But You in Australia together as he broke up with Gigi Paris after three years of dating.

In August, Sydney finally addressed the romance rumors as she told Variety: ‘It’s a rom-com. That’s what people want!

‘Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker. We’re excited for the press tour, and I literally just left ADR with him. We talk all the time like, “That’s really funny.”‘

In June, she also starred as NSA whistleblower Reality Leigh Winner – a former US Air Force member – who leaked a report into Russian interference into the 2016 election.

The new Rolling Stones music video, directed by Francois Rousselet, sees Sydney miming the lyrics to the single as she strikes a series of dance moves in the back of a car driving through Los Angeles.

Letting her blonde locks fall loose down her shoulders, Sydney also sported a pair of star print tights in the video along with a pair of black boots.

As she moves through the streets, the billboards show moving images of the band performing over the years.

Her performance in the video was well received by fans, with several taking to X/Twitter to praise the star.

One fan wrote: ‘Sydney Sweeney deserves all the love,’ while another added: ‘Sydney Sweeney looks dope in this.’

The rockers paid tribute to their late drummer Charlie Watts as they announced the release date of their new album and single during a special live event with Jimmy Fallon.

Arriving at the Hackney Empire in London to crowds of screaming fans, Sir Mick Jagger, 80, Keith Richards, 79, and Ronnie Wood, 76, revealed the record will drop October 20.

In what will be their first album of original songs in 18 years and first since the death of drummer Charlie Watts, the rock and roll legends revealed his talents will feature on two tracks, adding: ‘Of course he’s missed.’

Sir Mick added there are 12 tracks on the album and while most featured Jordan, there are two tracks recorded in 2019 with Charlie.

Speaking on stage, Keith reflected on Charlie’s passing, saying: ‘Ever since Charlie has been gone it’s different, he’s number four.’

The guitarist continued: ‘He’s missing, of course he’s missed incredibly, but thanks to Charlie we have Steve Jordan who was his recommendation if anything should happen to him.

‘He’s been a friend of ours so he was a natural progression, it would have been a lot harder without Charlie’s blessing.’

Sydney said: ‘I freaked out, called my family and brought my mum.’

When asked if she had done another music video before, she added: ‘I have, but nothing like this. This is the biggest thing ever!

‘I didn’t know it was going to be the first single but I loved the song when I heard it. It’s been stuck in my head.’

Sydney is now one of the most sought after actresses in the industry with a huge younger audience and a whopping 15 million Instagram followers.

But her stellar success is a long way from her upbringing, where she was born to a criminal defence lawyer mother and a father who worked in hospitality in Spokane, a city in Washington on the border of Idaho.

Just days before the Rolling Stones video was released, she drew attention at the glamorous Venice Film Festival this year.

Arriving as a guest of Armani, she made a slew of red carpet appearances at the event, catching the eye in a range of designer gowns.

Sweeney got her start in Hollywood guest starring on many television shows including Criminal Minds, 90210, Kickin’ It, and Grey’s Anatomy.

But her breakout role came playing Emaline in the Netflix TV show Everything Sucks! The show followed a group of high school kids in the 90s in Oregon – despite the show being cancelled after just one season.

After getting her foot in the door Sydney began to land some bigger roles, firstly in the second season of the enormous hit The Handmaid’s Tale.

From there, she starred in Euphoria, which debuted in 2019 on HBO and instantly became a fan favorite which launched Sydney into the stratosphere.

The show is the cable channel’s most-watched show after Game of Thrones – with fellow stars including Zendaya and Maude Apatow.

Since then she has starred in satirical murder dramedy The White Lotus and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Talking about the band’s new album, Mick later explained: ‘Hackney Diamonds is named after when your car windscreen gets smashed on a Saturday night and the glass goes everywhere.’

Keith added that being in the studio and touring were the ‘Holy Grail’ of being a musician.

‘It is fun, it is where a band can come together, playing live is the other Holy Grail, but to record is where the guys can come together and pass around ideas without any interference. It’s a great place for a band to work it all out,’ he said.

When host Jimmy asked if they ever worry about how their fans will receive new music, he replied: ‘No, we just cross our fingers.’

Elsewhere, Ronnie joked that he performs with other bands in between gigs

‘You’ve got to keep your fingers moving when you get to my age. You’ve got to keep everything moving,’ he said as they all laughed.

Fans around the globe were able to tune in via the band’s official YouTube channel to hear their new material since 2005’s A Bigger Bang.

Satisfaction hitmakers Mick, Keith and Ronnie said: ‘Hackney may be at the heart of Hackney Diamonds but this is a truly global moment we want to share with fans around the world via YouTube.’

In the caption, it teased: ‘Talking new album, new music, new era.’

The details of the event come after the legendary group used a local newspaper advert to reveal the name of their next album.

The Paint It Black rockers used the publicity gimmick to tell fans they are calling their new record Hackney Diamonds – with the announcement disguised as an advert for a fictional glass company of the same name placed in London’s Hackney Gazette paper.

One fan who spotted it shared the ad on X, saying: ‘Anyone see this? An ad ran in Hackney Gazette for a company called ‘Hackney Diamonds’ teasing Rolling Stones song titles.

‘Their est. date is 1962, same year Stones formed. Website seems to be run by Universal Music, the Stones’ label.

‘A clue their long-awaited new LP is on its way.’

Included in the Hackney Gazette ad was a miniscule version of the Stones’ iconic tongue logo – which they used to dot the ‘i’ in the brand name Diamonds.

The advert’s blurb also contained a reference to the Stones’ 1965 hit ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’, as well as nods to the tracks ‘Gimme Shelter’ and ‘Shattered’.

The font used for ‘Hackney Diamonds’ is also the same as the one used on the Stones’ album cover for 1978’s ‘Some Girls’.

It added the ‘glass company’ was ‘established in 1962’ in reference to the year the Stones formed,

The advert was printed on page three of the paper on August 21 and included a phone number.

When called, a recorded message plays that appears to announce the record or a single from it is coming out in September.

It says: ‘Welcome to Hackney Diamonds, specialists in glass repair.

‘Don’t get angry, get it fixed – opening early September, Mare Street, E8.’

The message also urges callers to ‘register for a call at www.hackneydiamonds.com’, adding: ‘Come on then.’

Hackney Diamonds will be the Stones’ 31st studio album and the first without their drummer Charlie Watts, who died aged 80 in August 2021.

It has already been revealed Bill Wyman, 86, the Stones’ long-term bassist, returned to the group to record a track for their next album in tribute to Charlie.

It’s also been reported the Stones’ next record would feature drumming by Charlie recorded before his death, and that there will be appearances by Sir Paul McCartney, 81, and 76-year-old Sir Elton John.

The album will be released across a number of formats including a special limited RS No.9 Carnaby Red vinyl, available exclusively to pre-order direct from the flagship store from September 6.

An exclusive Hackney Diamonds merch line is also now available from the London store.
