The National Television Awards is traditionally a night of glitz and glamour, with famous faces stepping out to impress – but some unfortunately failed to set the red carpet alight with their style choices.

Perhaps inspired by Barbie, Stacey Solomon was among the worst dressed, in a frothy pink confection that was eye-catching for all the wrong reasons. Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, Mollie King donned a negligee-inspired black and white ensemble that risked erring on the side of bland.

Helen Flanagan also just missed the mark in her frock – a khaki strapless gown cut on the bias. While the simplicity could have leant itself to being stylish, the poor fit and slightly drab colour made the outfit slightly lifeless.

While no one could accuse Danielle Harold of failing to catch the eye – she showed off her remarkable figure which looked stunning in a barely-there frock – the matching sequins on her dress and platform shoes were slight overkill.

And Maura Higgins also made a bold choice in her illusion two-piece dress, but while the bold choice fit well and looked sleek, the pearls on her bodice were not to everyone’s taste.

Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson as well as Line of Duty’s Vicky McClure were also among the stars of TV who proved to be entertainment for all the wrong reasons when attending the annual event in The O2, in London.

Sam, 31, who was interviewing stars ahead of the ceremony, made a bizarre fashion choice; he opted to wear blue crocs, alongside a smart black suit.

The former MIC star proudly showed off his unique choice of footwear as he kicked up his heels while posing up a storm on the red carpet. He completed the look with a pair of blue tinted shades as he made the most of the late summer weather.

This Is England’s Vicky, 40, meanwhile, opted for a ruffled dress featuring an eye-catching shoulder detail.

Love Island star Chloe Burrows, 27, made sure to command attention by opting for a very racy gown, featuring sheer panels and cut outs.

Elsewhere, Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri also left little to the imagination in a lilac gown which boasted a corset bodysuit and a sheer skirt.

Her off-the-shoulder garment featured long sleeves as well as feather edging around the cuffs and bottoms of the skirt.

She toted her belongings around in a coordinated clutch and turned up the glamour with a dazzling necklace. She accessorised with a pair of silver earrings and styled her long blonde tresses in a neat half up-do.

The beaming TV personality sported a shimmering pink jumpsuit, with a seemingly clashing gold clutch and heels.

Coronation Street’s Tina O’Brien, who plays Sarah Platt, wore a nude strapless dress which featured a ruffled skirt and a daring thigh high split.

The actress, 40, oozed confidence as she flashed her toned legs in the gown, which she teamed with gold platforms and delicate gold jewellery.

Helen Flanagan opted for a unique look in a strapless khaki gown which boasted a long sheer skirt that cascaded behind her as she walked.

She added inches to her frame in a pair of silver metallic heels and toted her belongings around in a coordinated clutch.

The mother-of-three accessorised with a chunky arm cuff and a pair of dramatic gold drop earrings.

Beneath the lights of London’s O2 Arena, it was Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly who claimed their 22nd NTA at the annual ceremony following a successful return to the Australian jungle with ITV1 juggernaut I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The pair claimed the award ahead of the much fancied Alison Hammond, notably selected ahead of her This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby in the category for Best Presenter.

The co-hosts – who were also competing with Martin Lewis, Claudia Winkleman and Bradley Walsh – admitted they were ‘more nervous than ever’ before going into the event on Tuesday evening, but were just as ‘humbled and grateful’ to receive the honour as they had ever been.

Ant said: ‘Thank you so much to the NTAs we’ve got quite a long list of thank yous, all of the shows and the people we work with, we are the luckiest two men on telly because we’ve got the best production teams and the best people to work with, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.’

His presenting partner Declan Donnelly added: ‘Thank you to ITV, to Kevin and Katie and all the team at ITV for your continued support. Thank you to our fantastic management team for your support, thank you gang, you’re up in the box somewhere.

‘Thank you to our lovely wives, our beautiful children. I can’t believe that we are still getting away with this…’

Ant interrupted: Were you more nervous than ever?’

Dec agreed: ‘Ever before, hands are sticky, my heart is beating, but we are as humbled and grateful tonight as we were the first time we won, so thank you for taking the time to vote for us, we really appreciate it.’

The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ presenters promised to keep working together for as long as possible.

Dec said: ‘We’ll see you back on telly very soon.’  Ant added: ‘We’ll keep doing it for as long as you want us to keep doing it.’

Elsewhere Danielle Harold cried as she picked up the Serial Drama Performance Award for her former role in EastEnders.

The actress appeared genuinely stunned as she made her way onto the stage after her portrayal of brain tumour victim Lola Pearce-Brown’s final days saw her scoop the accolade ahead of Emmerdale’s Dominic Brunt and Coronation Street stars Charlotte Jordan and Maureen Lipman.

Earlier in the evening, the TV Interview honour went to The Graham Norton Show but unlike category rivals Louis Theroux, Piers Morgan and Chris and Rosie Ramsay, the host wasn’t at the ceremony to be able to accept the accolade in person.

The Traitors won the Reality Competition prize, while the third season of ‘Happy Valley’ landed the Returning Drama honour.

The evening’s first award, the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award, was presented to Gogglebox.
