  • Footage shows the boy crossing the road on Cambridge Street in Coventry

This is the terrifying moment a schoolboy aged 12 is knocked to the ground by a car just seconds before another car allegedly misses him by inches.

Footage shows the boy crossing the road on Cambridge Street, Hillfields, in Coventry when a red car swerves around the corner and knocks him to the ground. The car doesn’t seem to stop and speeds off.

A second car follows suit and crashes into a parked black vehicle next to the boy, allegedly only missing him ‘by inches’. The white car then also speeds off.

Paramedics were later called to the scene and examined the 12-year-old, but said he was lucky to have ‘escaped serious injury’, according to his father.

He told CoventryLive: ‘He was crossing the road, and the car turned into him – he was hit by the red car which knocked him to the floor.

‘He was literally half on and half off the pavement and the second car hit a black car and missed him by inches.’

The father said he noticed that his son ‘was limping’ within the next few days and took him to the GP for leg pain. He was advised to take his son to the hospital for further checks.

There the boy was diagnosed with a fractured ankle and has been wearing a boot since the accident on August 30.

His father said the school boy was ‘still complaining of the pain he’s got’ and that the collision left him ‘scared and traumatised’.

‘He has not left the house since that day on his own and he is quite scared. He does not want to cross roads, so there is a bit of trauma involved,’ the man said about his son.
