  • Russell Brand has been accused of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse
  • He also faces allegations of controlling, abusive and predatory behaviour
  • He denies the allegations and says all of his relationships were consensual

Two women have accused Russell Brand of ‘grooming’ them, including one who was just 16 at the time, as part of a wider series of bombshell accusations against him.

The first woman – referred to as Alice to protect her identity – claimed she was in an ’emotionally abusive and controlling relationship’ with Brand, then 31, as a teenager for about three months, Channel 4 Dispatches revealed in a programme on Saturday.

Alice, who has branded the star’s alleged behaviour as ‘grooming’, claimed that throughout their relationship he would refer to her as ‘The Child’ and that he gradually became ‘controlling, and then emotionally and sexually abusive’.

She claims: ‘Russell engaged in the behaviours of a groomer but I didn’t know what that was back then. He would try to drive a wedge between me and my parents, taught me to lie to them.

‘I was at my dad’s house and it was 11 o’clock at night. He texted me, I came up with a scenario where I said my friend was ill, and we would role play text message conversations. He had a whole script for me.’

A TV worker called Rachel also claims she ‘was groomed for sex’ by Brand.

The woman claims Brand targeted her during her time working as a runner when the comedian worked in television.

Brand has been accused of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse during a seven-year period. Four women have alleged sexual assaults between 2006 and 2013, when he was at the height of his fame, working for BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4 as well as starring in Hollywood films.

He also faces allegations of controlling, abusive and predatory behaviour.

Alice (pictured) alleges that Russell Brand sexually assaulted her when she was 16 years old. She claims he would send a car to have her taken out of secondary school lessons, was ‘preoccupied’ with her being ‘innocent and pure’, and often referred to her as ‘The Child’. She also alleged that he ‘forced his penis down her throat’

Alice claimed their relationship was ‘isolating’ because Brand asked her keep it a secret from her friends, allegedly telling her that if they knew they would ‘be looking to make money from it’.

She alleges he took her virginity, was ‘preoccupied’ with her being ‘innocent and pure’, and often referred to her as ‘The Child’. The woman alleges he helped her craft lies to deceive her parents and encouraged her to hide their relationship from her friends.

She told investigators that Brand sent taxi cabs to her secondary school to pick her up. Alice also claims that she saved his phone number as ‘Carly’ on his request in order to deceive her parents.

A family member described Brand’s behaviour towards Alice as ‘grooming’ to The Sunday Times.

She also claimed the actor and comedian once kissed her mother in front of her and, on a separate occasion, ‘forced his penis down her throat’ and ‘made her choke’, only stopping after she punched him in the stomach.

She told the investigation that she has decided to share her story now because she wants the law to be changed to better protect people under the age of 18, arguing she was too young at 16 to be consenting to sex with an adult.

‘It shouldn’t be legal for a 16-year-old to have a relationship with a man in their thirties. There should be something in place to protect children,’ she said, adding. ‘My mum still feels like she failed me in some way in allowing this to happen, but she had no recourse at all.’

Alice claimed she met Brand in 2006 while shopping at now closed Topshop in Oxford Circus, Leicester Square. He had been working at the nearby MTV studio.

She told the investigation that he took her shopping bags from her, went through her purchases and critiqued each item. She claimed that he even pulled out a red dress and told her: ‘You’re going to wear this on our date this week’.

She claimed the pair went out to dinner on their first date and although she put makeup on and dressed up in a ‘red wiggle dress and big platform shoes’ for the occasion, ‘I didn’t look like a woman by any means. I was a child that had got dressed up for dinner.’

Alice claims that after he forced her into oral sex, Brand told her: 'Oh I only wanted to see your mascara run anyway'. During one of his comedy performances (pictured above), he told the audience: 'Them b******s where the mascara runs a little bit. Good'

Alice recalled Brand asking her to confirm she was at least 16, the age of consent in the UK, while on their first date. She told the investigation that he said: ‘I don’t give a f*** if you’re 12 . . . I need to know where I stand legally.’

She said as her taxi driver recognised she was going to Brand’s home, he allegedly started to ask her questions, after which she admitted that she was only 16.

He then begged her not to go inside and told her he had a daughter Alice’s age, she said, but she insisted she was fine.

She claimed that at the start of their relationship, Brand was ‘very charming and very attentive’. She alleged he would send her ‘verbose’ messages and often left her feeling ‘giddy’ and ‘special’.

However, she also claims that he was aroused by the fact that she was a virgin, claiming he would call her his ‘baby’, cradle her in his arms like a child and stroke her hair.

‘Things got very intense, very quickly. I said I’ve never had sex with anyone and he got an erection, straight away. He was like, “oh my god, my baby, my baby” and picked me up like a child,’ Alice said in the Channel 4 special.

She further claimed that he said she was ‘like my little dolly’ and that he became ‘preoccupied’ with her innocence and purity.

She also claimed he assumed a ‘power stance’ during sex that left her feeling like he believed he was ‘conquering something’.

After they first had sex, Alice claims Brand and one of his friends drove her to the tube station: ‘He was holding my hand behind the car seat like my mum does. And I felt very small, like a little kid.’

She claimed on Dispatches that once Brand ran a bath for her and made her sit in it. Then he allegedly had to leave but said she ‘should stay in the bath for the entirety he was gone’.

She claims that Brand even once forced her to have oral sex with him, despite her repeatedly refusing.

‘I was sat up in the bed up against the headboard, and he forced his penis down my throat and I couldn’t breathe. It was just choking me and I couldn’t breathe, and I was pushing him away and he wasn’t backing off at all,’ she told the investigation.

Alice said she had to ‘punch him really hard in the stomach’ to get him off of her. She then recalls lying on the bed, crying.

She claims he told her, ‘Oh I only wanted to see your mascara run anyway’, before proceeding to get on top of her, hold her mouth open, and drool inside it. She recalled ‘gagging’ as he ‘held my mouth shut and mad me swallow it’.

She also alleged that he had invited her to his 31st birthday party. Alice claims her mother dropped her off at Brand’s house and, as they met him at his doorstep, allegedly kissed her mother.

Alice recalled her mother wanting her to leave, but she says she decided to stay and attend the party instead. Her mother had reportedly been vocal about her opposition to the relationship throughout its run.

The alleged sexual assault victim said she finally ended her relationship with Brand after she came over to his residence and witnessed him in bed with another woman.

Alice also said Brand was discussed as she was working for Channel 4. Brand was allegedly considered for a new show, but ‘there were people who raised concerns because it came to light he had been inappropriate with staff members’.

The host of allegations against Brand (pictured) are claimed to have taken place between 2006 and 2013, while Brand was presenter for BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4 before then becoming a star in Hollywood. Brand vehemently denies the allegations

But the solution that was offered during that meeting was that female staff members would be taken of the crew, she alleged.

Alice also claimed that Channel 4 and the BBC ‘had a hand’ in enabling Brand.

‘He went from being a heroin addict live in air to a sex addict live on air to a predator live on air. He kept progressing so he thought he could do what he wanted.’

In late 2020, Alice contacted Brand’s literary agent, Angharad Wood, the co-founder of Tavistock Wood, to report the actor’s alleged behaviour.

She claimed she was told by a lawyer acting on Brand’s behalf that he denied the accusations. But in a fresh development tonight, Brand was removed from the websites of Curtis Brown and Tavistock Wood.

In a statement about Alice’s 2020 allegations, Tavistock Wood tonight last night: ‘Russell Brand categorically and vehemently denied the allegation made in 2020, but we now believe we were horribly misled by him. Tavistock Wood has terminated all professional ties to Brand.’

Another woman, Rachel, claimed Brand flashed her and asked her for sex. While they went on to have a relationship, she was allegedly told to keep it a ‘complete secret’.

Rachel said on Channel 4’s Dispatches: ‘He made clear to me I couldn’t tell anyone else on the crew because he had it written into his contract that he wasn’t allowed to have any sexual contact with anyone working on Big Brother.

‘It sounds slightly dramatic but with hindsight and now as an older woman I can say with clarity that, you know, I felt like I was groomed, for sex.

‘Production companies enabled him to exist in these environments where he was able to take advantage of who he was.’

Russell Brand’s comments in full:

Hello there you awakening wonders. Now this is not the usual type of video we make on this channel where we critique, attack and undermine the news in all its corruption because in this story I am the news.

I have received two extremely disturbing letters – or a letter and an email – one from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper listing a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks, as well as some pretty stupid stuff, like my community festival should be stopped and I shouldn’t be able to attack mainstream media narratives on this channel.

But amidst this litany of astonishing rather baroque attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute. These allegations pertain to a time when I was in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies, and as I’ve written about extensively in my books I was very, very promiscuous.

During that time of promiscuity the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that then, almost too transparent, and I am being transparent about it now as well.

And to see that transparency metastasized into something criminal that I absolutely deny makes me question is there another agenda at play.

Particularly when we have seen coordinated media attacks before, like Joe Rogan where he dared to take a medicine the mainstream media didn’t approve of and we saw a spate of headlines of media outlets around the world using the same language.

I am aware that you guys in the comments have been for a while saying ‘watch out Russell, they’re coming for you,’ ‘you are getting too close to the truth’, ‘Russell Brand did not kill himself’.’

I know a year ago there was a spate of articles: Russell Brand is a conspiracy theorists; Russell Brand is right wing.

I am aware of newspapers making phone calls, sending letters to people I know. For ages and ages, it’s been clear to me or at least feels to be there’s a serious and consorted agenda to control these kinds of spaces and these kind of voices.

I need my voice along with your voice. I don’t mind them using my books and my stand up to talk about my promiscuous sexual conduct in the past. What I seriously refute are these very, very serious, criminal allegations.

Also its worth mentioning that there are witnesses whose evidence directly contradicts the narratives that these two mainstream media outlets are trying to construct, apparently in what seems to be to me a coordinated attack.

Now, I don’t want to get into this any further because of the serious nature of the allegations but I feel like I’m being attacked and plainly they are working very closely together.

We are obviously going to look into this matter because it is very, very serious.

In the meantime, I want you to stay close, stay awake but more importantly than any of that, if you can stay free.
